CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

We are excited to invite educators, researchers and practitioners to contribute to the upcoming 2024/25 INDEX Symposium, a premier event dedicated to advancing experiential learning in higher education. This symposium aims to explore a wide range of topics from innovative teaching practices to the integration of global perspectives in experiential learning. We encourage submissions that span across theoretical, practical, and technological dimensions of experiential learning.

Under the theme “Future-Ready Global Business Education: Enhancing Experiential Learning Through Industry and Interdisciplinary Collaborations”, we welcome presentation proposals related to, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:

Industry and Community Engagement:
Exploring industry-based learning, community impact projects, and social entrepreneurship. This theme focuses on how experiential learning connects with real-world business challenges and social issues, offering students practical insights and making a tangible impact in communities. Additionally, it explores how educational institutions can collaborate with corporate and other stakeholders to enhance and facilitate effective student learning.

 

Interdisciplinary Approaches:
Highlighting interdisciplinary collaborations, curriculum integration, and innovative teaching models. This area covers the benefits of combining various academic disciplines to enhance experiential learning, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills among students.

 

Global and International Perspectives:
Covering international partnerships, global education strategies, and the challenges of internationalization. This theme discusses how experiential learning is enhanced through global collaborations, including the difficulties such as cultural differences, language barriers, and logistical challenges.

 

Operational Strategies and Challenges:
Addressing operational models, curriculum design, and logistical challenges in experiential learning. This area focuses on the practical aspects of implementing and sustaining experiential learning programs, including the design of curricula that support hands-on learning and the operational challenges that may arise.

 

Faculty Development and Support for Experiential Learning:
Focusing on encouraging and supporting faculty members to adopt and integrate experiential learning methodologies into their teaching. This area focuses on best practices for faculty training and development in experiential learning, case studies of successful adoption and challenges faced by faculty when integrating experiential learning, institutional policies and incentives designed to promote EL, collaborative models that facilitate peer-to-peer learning and mentorship among faculty.

 

Technology and Innovation in Experiential Learning:
Including virtual internships, simulations, VR experiences, and other technological integrations. This theme explores the role of emerging technologies in enhancing experiential learning, offering students immersive and innovative ways to engage with their studies, including inviting students as partner in educational design.

 

Social and Emotional Dimensions:
Focusing on emotional intelligence, resilience, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This area examines how experiential learning can be designed to support the development of soft skills, promote emotional and social growth, and ensure inclusive educational practices.

 

Assessment and Outcomes:
Discussing new assessment methods, learning outcomes, and both faculty and student development initiatives. This theme explores how the impacts of experiential learning can be measured effectively, including the development of new assessment tools and strategies to evaluate both teaching and learning successes.

 

Research and Scholarship:
Encouraging submissions on research studies, impact evaluations, and scholarly discussions on project-based learning. This final area invites contributions that provide insights into the academic and practical impacts of experiential learning, supporting evidence-based improvements and innovations in educational practices.​

TIMELINE & SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  1. Presentation Proposal Submission 
    You are invited to submit your presentation proposals by 11 December 2024 [Deadline extended].
    Each proposal should be concise, not exceeding 500 words, and clearly outline the objectives, methods, and expected outcomes of the presentation. Please ensure that submissions are original and contribute to the knowledge, practice, or pedagogy of experiential learning.
  2. Notification of Acceptance
    All submitted proposals will be evaluated based on originality, relevance to the conference themes, and contribution to the field. You will be informed of the result by email by 16 December 2024
  3. Presenter Registration
    If your proposal is accepted, you will receive an invitation via email to proceed to the next stage for presenter registration and payment. Please complete your registration and payment by 26 December 2024.
